Councillor targets Padfield's grot spots

Ollie Cross is making a determined effort to 'spruce up Padfield' and he's inviting residents to get involved.

Councillor Ollie - who represents the village on High Peak Borough Council - has just litter picked part of his ward.

Helped by his girlfriend’s son James, seven, his 90 minute collection included part of a car tyre, a broken phone charger and lots of lager cans.

Ollie told us: “That was in around an hour and half.

“James is a brilliant litter spotter and he loved it. We covered an area behind Lambgates and Vale House Drive.”

Ollie is keen to tackle other parts of Padfield on what he plans to be weekly litter picks.

He’s inviting villagers to come up with parts of Padfield they feel need sprucing up.

Ollie already has a couple of ‘blackspots’ in mind. One of these includes the start of the Longdendale Trail behind the dry stone walls on Padfield Main Road.

Ollie just wants to keep Padfield, which is by no means a litter blackspot, cleaner and safer. He said the walks will only take two hours a week.

He said: “Padfield is lovely and we want to keep it that way.”

So if you have particular part of Padfield to cover on one of Ollie’s walks, call him on 07813 969399 and he will try and take up the challenge.
