Councillor joins residents in Big Padfield Litter Pick

Councillor Ollie Cross joined a number of local residents for the Big Padfield Litter Pick 2021 last weekend.

The Padfield councillor said it was "heartwarming" to see Padfielders of all ages mucking in on Sunday morning, and they were blessed with some lovely weather.

He said he "forged a formidable partnership" with Kathy Shaw, the Minister of Padfield Congregational Chapel, as they cleaned up Padfield Main Road, Post Street and Platt Street.

"Kathy and I picked up all sorts along the way, including cigarette butts, facemasks, sweet/chocolate wrappers, a variety of plastic, wet wipes etc," said Councillor Cross, who was recently chosen as High Peak's Deputy Mayor for 2020/21

He has thanked Padfield Residents' Society for organising the litter pick and supplying equipment, especially Steve Wright and Janis Birchall.

Councillor Cross also gave a "big shout out" to High Peak Borough Council for agreeing to pick up the haul of litter and debris which was collected.

He added: "I think it's safe to say that the morning was a resounding success and we've made Padfield an even more beautiful place to live."
