Co-op customers help support local dementia group

A local charity's dementia group is set to benefit from more than £2,000 in funding thanks to a food retailer and its customers.

The Bureau, based on Henry Street in Glossop, has received £2,227 through the Co-op Local Community Fund.

The charity said: "The money will not only benefit the people that come to the dementia group and their carers, it will also look at their needs as we recover from the pandemic and see how best to support them in the future.

"It’s so important that we can provide support to people with dementia and their carers so we would like to say a big thank you to the Co-op and its members!"

The Bureau say the funding will be used to enable the dementia group to meet each week, provide different activities at the group and trips out, respite opportunities for carers whilst their loved one safely attends the group, and help establish a Dementia Friendly Glossop Group.

The Co-op Local Community Fund supports projects across the UK that its members care about.

Every time members buy selected Co-op branded products and services, the food retailer gives local causes a helping hand. The Co-op also gives all money raised from shopping bag sales to its chosen causes.
