An injured walker was able to help guide mountain rescue volunteers to his location using the 'What 3 Words' app.
He was on the Edge path on Kinder Scout between Sandy Heys and Kinder Downfall and had injured his ankle.
The deteriorating weather conditions on Saturday morning (18 December) meant a helicopter evacuation was not possible.
Member of Kinder and Glossop Mountain Rescue Teams carried the injured man for two hours on a stretcher to reach the land ambulance at the Chunal / Monks Road junction to take the patient to hospital.
Mountain rescue teams rely on public support. If you would like to donate, find out how by visiting their websites or Facebook pages.
