A century up for Ellen

Celebrating in style on her big day is Ellen Siddall, who was 100 years old on Monday.

Glossop’s newest centenarian held her birthday party at the Risings Care Home, Primrose Lane, where she receives day care.

Ellen comes from the Beswick and Salford areas, only moving to Glossop 17 years ago to live at Brooklands Drive, to be close to her son Malc and family.

Joining Malc, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and friends, at her party were the staff and residents she had made friends with at The Risings.

Ellen enjoys life in Glossop, after so many years in Salford, where together with her husband she kept a grocer’s shop for many years.

Ellen had many friends in the Manchester suburbs, where she grew up got married and ran her grocery business.

She was also a keen churchgoer.

Ellen’s main interest now is her family and all of her new friends at The Risings.
