The Bureau in Glossop has confirmed that it has taken the decision to temporarily close its office on Henry Street to the public from today (Tuesday) until further notice.
The local charity - which has had to suspend all groups and home visits for the time being - will still be working hard to support those people who are self-isolating and vulnerable.
Staff will be in the office from 10am to 12pm for the time being and the phone will be answered between 10am and 5pm.
The Bureau are offering to support local people unable or worried to leave their home due to the coronavirus pandemic by picking up and delivering food supplies, picking up prescriptions or having a friendly chat over the phone.
They are working with local partners including Glossopdale Foodbank, Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and local GP practices to mobilise the people of Glossop to help with the aforementioned important tasks.
If you are worried, struggling and alone, or know someone who is, you can call The Bureau on 01457 865722 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
On the flip side, if you are able to offer support and would like to volunteer with The Bureau, call the number above or email email@example.com and provide the following info:
- Your name
- Phone number
- The area you live in (it helps with localising support)
- Which task you would be able to help with
You can also visit their dedicated Covid-19 volunteer page by clicking here.
The phone line will remain open from 10am to 5pm from Monday to Friday, while emails and voicemails will continue to be picked up and answered.
