The stores closed with immediate effect yesterday (Sunday) until further notice.
In a statement, the company said: "We have been closely following the updates of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation and the extraordinary times upon us. As the situation continues to impact upon us, the safety and wellbeing of our Peacocks community is our highest priority.
"As a result, to keep our customers and colleagues safe, we announce the temporary closure of all our UK stores effective from close of business Sunday 22 March until further notice. As difficult as this is, we know that it's the right decision to make.
"This means that our Click and Collect service to store and returns to store are temporarily unavailable. However, customers are still able to purchase what they need from us through our website www.peacocks.co.uk, which remains open for you to to shop online 24/7, where we'll continue to offer the family fashion and style that you love and delivery to your home remains available.
"As a business, we will of course continue to adapt to make shopping from home simple and will review delivery procedures and returns regularly to help. More information on our deliveries and how to make returns will be available shortly and our social channels will continue to bring you fashion inspiration and offers we know you love.
"For now, take care of yourselves and each other. Thank you so much for your continued loyalty and support. We'll continue to update you as and when we can."
