Covid-19 case at Gee Cross pub

A pub in Hyde has confirmed that a customer has tested positive for Covid-19.

The Grapes, on Stockport Road in Gee Cross, says it has conducted a deep clean and will be remaining open with "the appropriate measures in place".

The pub said on its Facebook page on Friday afternoon: "We have been informed we have had a customer who has tested positive for Covid-19.

"We are following guidelines from both Robinsons and Tameside Council. We have been collecting customers details for NHS Track & Trace, if they decide it is necessary they will make direct contact

"We have conducted a deep clean and we remain open with the appropriate measures in place."

On Thursday, Tameside Council said there are "tentative" signs that the borough's hard work in complying with additional Covid-19 measures imposed in Greater Manchester is beginning to pay off, but warned that it's much too soon to talk of lifting the restrictions
