>>> WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THE COURSE?
The course will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis, and potentially stop a crisis from happening. You will learn to recognise warning signs of mental ill health and will develop the skills and confidence to approach and support others while keeping yourself safe. You will learn how to empower others to access the support they might need for recovery or successful management of symptoms. You will also gain an understanding of how to support positive wellbeing and tackle stigma in the world around you.
The course is split into four manageable sessions, each teaching practical MHFA skills that can be used every day:
1. Mental health; MHFA; depression.
2. Depression (continued); suicide; addiction; listening skills; self-care.
3. Crisis first aid after a traumatic event; disorders: personality, anxiety, eating, drugs & alcohol, self-harm, cognitive distortions and CBT.
4. Psychosis, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder; building resources; action planning using MHFA.
