This course will be delivered in conjunction with Tameside, Oldham & Glossop Mind and HALF OF ALL PROFITS WILL GO TO SUPPORT THE CHARITY.
>>> COURSE SUMMARY
The Adult MHFA Two Day training teaches people how to identify, understand and help others who may be experiencing a mental health issue. It is the mental health equivalent of physical first aid. Delegates will learn the interpersonal skills necessary to have a non-judgmental conversation, recognise the signs and symptoms of various mental health issues and effectively guide a person towards the right mental health support. You will also gain an in-depth understanding of the factors that can affect wellbeing, as well as practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental illness, and the confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress.
The course is split into four manageable sessions, each teaching practical MHFA skills that can be used every day:
1. Mental health; MHFA; depression.
2. Depression (continued); suicide; addiction; listening skills; self-care.
3. Crisis first aid after a traumatic event; disorders: personality, anxiety, eating, drugs & alcohol, self-harm, cognitive distortions and CBT.
4. Psychosis, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder; building resources; action planning using MHFA.
Subsidised cost of £250pp including official MHFA manual, workbook and certificate, a branded tote bag and lanyard, plus tea, coffee, water and snacks.
Every Mental Health First Aid course is delivered by quality assured MHFA Instructors who have attended the same, official MHFA England Instructor Training programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health.
A collaborative, professional, respectful and confidential learning environment is guaranteed, along with warm, friendly, inclusive facilitation from trained Mental Health First Aid England Instructor Members.
