5 Amazing Italian Restaurants in Tameside you need to visit!

Italy has offered the world so many miraculous things over the centuries…

From the creation of the Roman Empire to revolutionising the fashion industry, there are very few sides of culture Italy hasn’t explored.

But one of the aspects of Italian life that has bled into pretty much every corner of the globe is Italian food.

Whether you’re a passionate pizza or pasta type of person, there really is something for everyone in Italian cooking.

When it comes to Italian restaurants in Tameside, we have a greater selection of quality examples than you might think!

So, if you’ve got a favourite Italian and are looking to expand your horizons, or if you’re totally in the dark about the selection of Italian restaurants Tameside has to offer, here are a few suggestions you’ll want to check out!

Benvenuto Ristorante

Tucked away on the corner of Mill Lane and Manor Road in Denton lies this hidden Italian treat!

Benvenuto Ristorante boasts a wide selection of classic Italian dishes as well as impressive choice of steak dishes (for the carnivores amongst you!) cooked to your liking, which Benvenuto is proud to say are selected for their quality from local butchers.

Not only this, but the ristorante also has ‘Mini’ and ‘Maxi’ menus available throughout the week (Sunday to Thursday all day, 5-7pm on Fridays and Saturdays) at excellent price points, making your Italian dining experience affordable for your personal budget!

But what stands out the most about Benvenuto Ristorante (aside from the exceptional food) is the response from the local public; time and time again, five star reviews all point to Benvenuto being an ideal restaurant atmosphere for families. Which makes complete sense, given that the restaurant is a family-run operation, managed with the upmost care for the customer in mind.

The food, the service, the location, the atmosphere. It looks like Benvenuto Ristorante ticks all the boxes!

If you’d like to find out more about Benvenuto Ristorante and make it your next Italian venture, you can find out more at their website - https://www.benvenutoristorante.co.uk/ - and if you need any more convincing of their top-notch status out of the Italian restaurants Tameside has to offer, check out their TripAdvisor page here.

Pinocchio Ristorante

It might be named for the iconic Italian character made famous by Walt Disney in 1940, but don’t worry, our noses won’t start to grow when we tell you how good Pinocchio Ristorante is!

Found on Old Street in Ashton-Under-Lyne (just round the corner from Aldi), Pinocchio originally started out as a breakfast café in 2005 before Alessandro and Roberto (the owners) saw the potential for expanding their menu into evening meals.

Given that both chefs had an array of previous restaurant experience across Europe, it was no surprise when people in the area began to take notice of the quality dishes Pinocchio was serving up.

Today it is one of the most popular Italian spots in Ashton and across Tameside as a whole, with a menu that consists of all your Italian favourites including a particularly extensive pasta dish selection.

Add to this the fact the restaurant also offers a full vegan menu (still a rarity in Italian restaurants!), it goes to show that Pinocchio is about as inclusive and wide-ranging as an Italian can get!

Located on Market Street in Droylsden city centre, the deceptively spacious restaurant is a wonderful combination of classic décor, elegant lighting and delicious Italian food, all tied together with a plentiful bar and a classic stone pizza oven which is on display for all to see behind the counter – so you know the pizza you’re getting is the real deal!

Antonio’s (Puccini)

If you’re unfamiliar with this particular Italian in Ashton, have no fear.

It’s most likely because they recently re-branded as Antonio’s – you might know the restaurant by its previous name, Puccini?

An Italian staple in central Ashton for some time now, Antonio’s (formerly Puccini) have developed quite the following over the years thanks to their beautiful interior and even more beautiful food.

Literally right round the corner from Ashton Bus Station, it is impossible to miss.

But, as well as serving genuine Italian treats to suit even the most veteran Italian cuisine hunters, Antonio’s also offers a Sunday menu for those looking for a more traditional Sunday lunch – something you won’t find in every Italian!

With thousands of followers on social media, and almost as many equally positive reviews, there’s a reason Antonio’s has cemented itself as one of the most essential Italian spots in the region.

Italian Grill

Around one hundred yards down from the BP garage in Stalybridge, you’ll find an innocent-looking Italian which is far more than meets the eye.

A café/Italian Restaurant/Bar hybrid, Italian Grill is ready to serve top-quality food and drink whatever the time of day.

Unlike a lot of other Italian-themed restaurants, Italian Grill is open for breakfast and brunch as well as Lunch and Dinner, and you can expect some of your breakfast favourites like a traditional English breakfast as well as a great range of sandwiches on the lunch menu.

When it comes to dinner attention to detail is key and the menu, while it could be considered limited compared to others, is clearly a labour of love filled with simple yet tantalising Italian dining.

And if you’re in the mood for something other than Italian, other themed menus such as Tapas nights are often available.

Perfect for a quiet meal, date night, or a treat for the family – Italian Grill has you covered.
