Events to Celebrate Christmas in Oldham

The winter chill is well and truly underway! That can only mean one thing…

Christmas Pandemonium at Gallery Oldham (5th December)

Gallery Oldham, situated on Greaves Street in Oldham, is dedicated to displaying and delivering the history of the Oldham area and beyond, as well as numerous original pieces with influence taken from further afield.

When Christmas time rolls around you can often find a selection of Christmas-themed events added to their usual events schedule. This year, one of their highlights will be ‘Christmas Pandemonium.’

Hosted by poet Ian McMillan and photographer Ian Beesley, Christmas Pandemonium will offer attendees a “festive performance of fun and laughter in an original improvised magic lantern slide show.”

Given the great artistic talent involved, there’s every reason to expect that this show at Gallery Oldham will be a spectacle for both the eyes and the heart!

Christmas Spectacular Wrestling Show at Royton Band Club (14th December)

It might not be everyone’s cup of tea and it’s certainly not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Christmas in Oldham, but you can’t deny it’s unique!

The Christmas Spectacular Wrestling Show at Royton Band Club will offer the very best of independent British and European pro wrestling talent in a special family-friendly event.

The talent on display have proven themselves with countless suplexes, powerbombs and clotheslines the world over, and some have even trialled with the world famous wrestling superpower WWE!

And with tickets starting at just £6 (and a great value for money family ticket for £20) you can’t afford to miss out.

Kershaw’s Christmas Markets at St Anne’s Rugby Club (8th December)

Who doesn’t love a good Christmas market? Well, you’d don’t need to travel all the way to a major city centre to get your fill of them!

Kershaw’s Christmas Markets (Hosted by Dr Kershaw’s Hospice) is a great Christmas Market alternative if you’re looking for something a little more local.

To be held at St Anne’s Rugby Club on the 8th December, visitors will be treated to plentiful food and drink as well as other artisan offerings to be explored and enjoyed!

There’s A LOT of interest for this one, so be sure to get down early!

Donkeystone Christmas Markets at Uppermill Civic Hall with Donkeystore Brewing Co. (1st Dec)

Donkeystone Brewing Company, situated in the idyllic setting of Greenfield in Saddleworth, serve top-quality ales in a variety of styles and flavours to suit beer experts and newbies alike.

With an emphasis on ‘Real ale drinkers’ they take the very best of the old and the new, producing beer in a modern style with traditional methods at heart, meaning there’s something for every ale drinker to enjoy.

This year, the Donkeystone team will be hosting their own Christmas Markets at Uppermill Civic Hall.

They have a whole host of “interactive sessions” planned and it’s all to raise funds for Funky Fitness And Fun CIC, The Oldham Mayor's Appeal and Mountain Rescue.
