Clothes and cream teas in Glossop

Glossop League of Ladies WI’s latest event certainly ticked all the boxes.

The clothes swap and cream tea at St Mary’s Hall was to raise funds for The Bureau, its charity of the year.

It certainly did that in style also providing a fun afternoon and also preventing garments from going into the ground.

WI president Ruth Ainsworth said: “We had a raffle with lots of wonderful prizes donated from local businesses, a delicious cream tea with scones from Grains and jam from The Jam Shack and ladies were asked to bring clothes, shoes and accessories in a nearly new state to swap.

“The event raised £346.88 for The Bureau meaning we have smashed our £1,000 target - we have currently raised £1,299.10 through this year.”

Added Ruth: “It also falls within the WI’s environmental campaigns as swapping clothes on Saturday gave items a new lease of life and kept them out of our landfills. Any left over clothes were donated to charity shops. It was a wonderful afternoon, thoroughly enjoyed by all.”
